My real name is Yanira Nazario. I was born and raised in
Puerto Rico. My parents moved to Orlando, Florida after my father retired from
law enforcement. It was very difficult for
me to adjust since all my lifelong friends were no longer a part of my life. I only spoke Spanish, so because of the
language barrier, meeting new friends and finding my way in a foreign country
was challenging.
At 16 years old, I started my first job. With a lot of hope and dedication, I started
working at a restaurant in Universal Studios Orlando. Since I didn’t speak any English, all I was
able to do at the restaurant was take out the garbage. Lifting heavy garbage bags wasn’t easy but I
was willing to learn, gain experience and practice my English. It was
challenging to be a female teenager, that didn’t speak any English but after
two years of hard work and dedication, I was given a leadership position to
supervise the restaurant full-time. The saying is true “Hard work does pay off!”
I continued working at Universal Studios for many years
developing my professional career and working with incredible people. At 21 years old, I started my own part-time
business, learning from professionals and reading at the library to embrace all
opportunities. .
In my late 20’s I found myself with responsibilities. I was married, had a full-time job, my own
business and the economy was changing daily. At that point in my life I felt grown up but, I
still couldn’t figure out what I really wanted. Although I felt as though I had accomplished
much, the next few events in my life would prove to be challenging. I spent the next few years severely affected
by an unexpected divorce, a failing business and no hopes to dream again.
After a number of years of letting life run me over and
living in the past, I had enough. I finally
woke up one morning determined to dream again and change my life. That’s when I decided to change my name and
leave the past behind me. I had been
completing an application for a client and noticed my financial advisor ID
number of ALYB1. I said “Aly” out loud
and thought “That’s my new name!” For
one, I won’t be able to forget my ID number plus if I meet a new guy he is
going to have me as “number one” on his phone contact list. J
While connecting with different people in this world, I met
an incredible human being that gave me support and inspired me to go beyond
fears and personal abilities. Although I
was excited to start a new chapter in my life, I still had my moments of
frustration and feelings of discouragement.
I remember one particular morning my friend said to me “Go Aly!” I was immediately heart-broken because I
couldn’t GO. I didn’t have any
motivation, desire or energy to keep going but I knew I had to……GO! And that is when GOALYGO was born!
We all have those moments where we feel like giving up but
I’m excited to encourage and inspire you to GO to the next level of
success. You must GO and keep moving
forward even when there is no hope. You
must follow your heart and follow your dreams. Today, I have developed three successful
businesses and have expanded to the Caribbean markets. I’m back in the business world and loving it. Today, I want to share my story, my experiences
and life challenges with you. Welcome!
This is GOALYGO!
